Tamale Pie 

A fast easy way to get the taste of tamales.

          *Topping
-Whole Recipe-
2 c corn meal, 5 c water,
1 1/2 t salt, 1/4 c butter
-Three-Fourths Recipe-
1 1/2 c corn meal, 3 3/4 c water,
1 t salt, 3 T butter
-Half Recipe-
1 c corn meal, 2 1/2 c water
3/4 t salt, 2 T butter
-Quarter Recipe-
1/2 c corn meal, 1 1/4 c water
1/2 t salt, 1 T butter
          *Filling
1 large onion, chopped
1 1/2 lb hamburger
1 large can crushed tomatoes in puree
1 can whole kernel corn
2 T brown sugar
2 t salt
2 T mexican seasoning
2 T chili powder
sour cream
grated yellow cheese

Fry onion with hamburger.  Add tomatos, corn, and seasonings.  Simmer uncovered while preparing topping.  Stir corn meal and salt into cold water.  Cook and stir till thick.  Add butter and mix well.  Spread a thin layer of sour cream over filling and sprinkle with cheese.  Cover with topping and bake 375* for about 40 min to 1 hour, until topping is browned.
