In 4 qt pot bring to a very gentle simmer: 32 oz(4 c) milk 8 oz (1 c) white cane sugar OR washed raw sugar Boil this down to 15 oz by weight. This took just a little over 1 hour, stirring and boiling more actively for the last 10 minutes. But it will burn just at the end! So this recipe makes just over a 'can of sweetened condensed milk' which is 14 ounces. I could boil just a little more to get exactly 14 ounces by weight. *Be sure to allow plenty of time. I have curdled the milk more times than I want to admit!
